Shopping is a modern tendency as it is impossible to live in the contemporary world and not to visit shops. Despite the existence of markets, most of the population of every country everything necessary in the shops. Even the residents of the smallest faraway villages at least once a month visit shops: they can’t live without products, household detergents, equipment, devices etc. Speaking about the citizens of rather big cities shops are an integral part of their life. They are located everywhere and each person spends a pretty penny there as there are so many temptations. I am not an exception and can admit that I am a real spender. I love shopping no matter what I buy and how much I spend. It is so pleasant to get an item, which you have been wishing to obtain for some time, and at last you receive it. But not every my purchase is a real bargain, so I always try to do my best in choosing the next goods.

Шоппинг - это современная тенденция, так как невозможно жить в современном мире и не посещать магазины. Несмотря на наличие рынков, большая часть населения каждой страны по-прежнему предпочитает приобретать все необходимое в магазинах. Даже жители маленьких отдаленных деревень, по крайней мере, один раз в месяц посещают магазины: они не могут жить без продуктов, бытовой химии, оборудования, устройств и т. д. Говоря о жителях больших городов, магазины являются неотъемлемой частью их жизни. Они расположены везде, и каждый человек тратит там не мало, поскольку там есть очень много соблазнов. Я не исключение и могу признать, что я - настоящий транжира. Я люблю ходить по магазинам независимо от того, что я покупаю и сколько я трачу. Так приятно получить товар, который вы желали получить в течение некоторого времени, и наконец, он у вас. Но не каждая моя покупка очень выгодная, поэтому я всегда стараюсь выбирать тщательно очередной товар.

Being a mother of a small child and a wife I have to do my shopping at least once a week. The goods I buy are very diverse and are sold in different shops. Supermarkets, stalls and small local shops are usually visited by me in order to buy . I choose the local butcher’s to get fresh meat, the greengrocer’s – to provide my family with fresh juicy fruit and vegetables, the baker’s – to taste fragrant bread and pastry and the corner shop to buy everything I have not included into my list, but need urgently.

Будучи матерью маленького ребенка и женой, я должна сделать мои покупки как минимум раз в неделю. Товары я покупаю очень разнообразные, и они продаются в разных магазинах. Супермаркеты, ларьки и небольшие местные магазины я обычно посещаю, чтоб покупать товары из еженедельного списка. Я выбираю местного мясника, чтобы получить свежее мясо, овощную лавку – чтоб предоставить моей семье свежие сочные фрукты и овощи, пекаря – чтоб попробовать душистый хлеб и кондитерские изделия и магазин на углу, чтобы купить все, что я не включила в мой список, но это срочно понадобилось.

Supermarket is , where we buy goods. Usually we come there in order to save some money and buy products on sale or with special discounts. And now I realize that this marketing strategy works ideally as there has never been a situation when we left the shop only with cheap products. The assortment is so various that you can not pass by something tasty. Also supermarkets have one more outweighing benefit: you are allowed to choose . It is very valuable especially for mothers with infants, as they wish to buy fresh products for their kids, especially the dairy ones, and they are able to choose the items with the latest expiry date.

Супермаркет - это еще одно посещаемое нашей семьей место, где мы покупаем товар. Обычно мы приходим туда для того, чтобы сэкономить деньги и купить продукты на распродаже или со специальными скидками. И сейчас я понимаю, что это маркетинговая стратегия в идеале работает, так как ни разу не было ситуации, когда мы покидали магазин только с дешевой продукцией. Ассортимент настолько разнообразен, что вы не можете пройти мимо чего-нибудь вкусненького. Также супермаркеты имеют еще одно достоинство: вам разрешается выбрать товар самостоятельно. Это очень ценно особенно для матерей с грудными детьми, так как они хотели бы купить свежие продукты для своих детей, особенно молочные, и они имеют возможность выбрать товары с наиболее отдаленной датой истечения срока действия.

Clothes also belong to the items, which I regularly buy for myself and the members of my family. In spite of the fact that markets provide a good choice of outfits, usually they are of a very low quality. to buy clothes only of high quality. But as we do not earn very much, we try to buy clothes only at the time of seasonal discounts. Even very prestigious brands lower the prices to the minimum, so it is possible to buy beautiful outfits for reasonable prices. Many girls and women choose this way of buying clothes because of a wide choice, rather diverse prices and a possibility to find the thing, which you live in. I am not a fan of online shopping as there is no possibility to try the desirable item on, but there are goods, which I also usually buy only from the Internet shops – these are devices and other equipment. At least once a year our family has , as they can greatly. So we follow such a rule: we visit quite large retailers suggesting the item we need, evaluate all the pros and cons with a suitable price and shipping. We double the advantages of buying online due to the lower price and a quick delivery to the doors of our house. It is also a wonderful way of making surprises for your relatives, as the bill for the purchase they with emotions when this new equipment arrives at their home.

Department stores have become not only the way to obtain something new, but also the way to relax and forget about the rat race of our lives. So shopping apart from its main function became a means of rest and leisure activity. No wonder it is so pleasant to spend money.

Шопинг занимает большую часть нашей жизни, так как на сегодняшний день мы не можем жить без него. Изменения мира также привели к изменениям нашей жизни. My name is Lena. I live in Krasnodar. It’s the central city of our region and one of the biggest cities in Russia. There are lots of big and small shops in my city. When we need to buy something we go shopping. My parents go shopping for food to the nearest supermarket nearly every day. We also have a special shopping day when we go to different shops together. It’s Saturday because all members of my family have a day-off. We go to several stores on this day. It can be a grocery, a bakery, a clothes store, a cosmetics store, a pharmacy, a store of electronic appliances and some others. My favourite shop is a clothes store. I really like shopping for new clothes and shoes. My mum always helps me to choose the right size and the right design. However, I prefer shopping with my best friends. Not far from the place where I live there is a huge mall with numerous shops, restaurants, an ice-rink, a cinema and entertainment facilities. We often go there for shopping or just to have a good time. It has become our favourite pastime recently. We don’t always buy something but window-shopping can be also fun. My parents say that in the past there were no big stores like this and sometimes it was difficult to find what you wanted. At the moment I can’t even imagine how people could have lived without shops and goods. I’m glad we have many opportunities for shopping.	Меня зовут Лена. Я живу в Краснодаре. Do you like shopping? It is well known that many people do like, especially women. In any case we often just have to do it, when we need some foodstuffs, for example.

There is a great variety of shops in the world: dairy, baker"s, grocer"s, fishmonger"s, greengrocer"s, butcher"s, sweet shop, florist"s, stationer"s, footwear, children"s wear, jewellery and so on.

Different people do shopping in different ways. Do you prefer shopping in small corner shops which are usually located in your neighbourhood or in big supermarkets? Undoubtedly, there are certain advantages and disadvantages in both variants. Your choice usually depends on what you need to buy. If you lack something like bread or milk, it is worth going to the nearest corner shop, for that will take you about 10 minutes. However, if your fridge is empty and there is not a slice of bread in your breadbasket, you"d better go to a supermarket. There you"ll find all sorts of foodstuffs - meat and poultry, cheese and sausage, frozen food, drinks, sweets, fruit and vegetables, grocery, bakery and dairy products. In such shops people usually take a shopping basket or a trolley and walk among the rows where all items are displayed on the shelves or kept in refrigerators. If it is not a self-service shop, and most small shops are not, the shop-assistant helps the customer to find what he or she needs. In supermarkets you can buy not only foodstuffs but also stationary, clothes, household goods, some electrical goods, perfumery, newspapers and magazines. They sell various goods under one roof and, undoubtedly, this is very convenient. You can walk from one department to another looking about, finding out the price and if there is any discount and in the end you come to cashier"s desk where you pay for all your purchases in cash or by a credit card.

Big department stores are very widespread in Great Britain. The most famous department stores in the UK are Harrods (one of the largest and the most expensive), House of Fraser, Marks and Spencer and Debenhams.

Marks & Spencer attracts a great variety of customers from housewives to millionaires. Such celebrities as Princess Diana, Dustin Hoffman and the British Prime-minister David Cameron are just a few of its famous customers. It makes a profit of more than 10 million pounds a week. The store has a brilliant reputation due to a high quality of its goods. It sells not only food and clothes, but also flowers and furniture. Marks & Spencer is a chain store which has over 700 branches all over the world.
Besides huge department stores, there are many cheap street markets in Great Britain. Most of them sell various goods: food, jewellery, clothes, electronics and household goods. Some of them are specialized in particular items: pet products, books, antique furniture and garden stuff.

British people are fond of out-of-town shopping. Some of them have a special shopping day once a week when the whole family takes a car and goes to an enormous shopping complex out-of-town, which is also called "superstore". The prices in such shops are pretty low and the choice of items is various. In these complexes you can find one or more supermarkets, chain-stores, some smaller shops, a lot of cafes, end even a multi-screen cinema. One of such stores is IKEA. You are sure to know we have similar shops in Russia, which are called "Mega".

Talking about shopping preferences of Russian people, it is worth saying that many of them like to go abroad in order to buy cheap good quality things. Those who live in St. Petersburg have an opportunity to do their shopping in Finland, as the country is situated nearby. It takes only about 4 hours to get to such towns as Helsinki, Imatra, Hamina or Lappeenranta. Each of them has huge shopping centers where you can find such well-known shops as H&M, Aleksi, Vero Moda, Lindex, Luhta, Kappahl, Zara, Mango, Vendi, Vogue, Stockmann and so on. Moreover, twice a season there is a time of crazy discounts of 50 to 70 per cent.

Shopping is an integral part of our life. Nowadays it has become not only a necessity but also a pleasure for many people.

Если же у вас пустой холодильник и в доме нет даже куска хлеба, вы наверняка пойдёте в супермаркет. В таких магазинах люди обычно берут корзинку или тележку и ходят между рядами, где товары выставлены на полках или в холодильниках. Если же вы зашли в магазин, где нет самообслуживания, как в большинстве маленьких магазинчиков, то выбрать нужный товар вам поможет продавец. В супермаркетах вы сможете купить не только продукты питания, но и многое другое: канцелярские товары, одежду, различные товары для дома, электротехнику, парфюмерию, газеты и журналы. Всё это продаётся под одной крышей, что, несомненно, очень удобно. Вы можете ходить из отдела в отдел, выбирая подходящие по цене товары, а также товары со скидкой, а затем идёте к кассе, где оплачиваете покупки наличными или банковской картой.

Shoping (I)

There are many shops and supermarkets in our city. They are Zangar, Ardager, Ramstor, Smat, Resey, Astana etc.

My family has a shopping day. It is Saturday. We get up early this day. Early to rise and early to bed makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. My father and I usually go to Ramstor because it is near to our house. In the morning we ask our mother what we need. We take bags and go to the shop. First of all we go to the butcher’s store. We buy sausage, meat, fish, and eggs there. In the baker’s store we buy sweets, cakes, rolls and buns. In the greengrocer’s store we buy fresh vegetables and fruit such as carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, apples, lemons. An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Last week we had our mother’s birthday. We prepared everything for this holiday: we bought food and a present for her. We wanted to make her happy. She is a woman of taste, so we bought a perfume. She was very pleased and thanked for our shopping.

There are also escalators in big stores which take customers to different floors. The things for sale are on the counters so, that they can be easily seen. In the women"’ clothing department you can find dresses, costumes, blouses, skirts, coats, beautiful underwear and many other things. In the men’s clothing department you can choose suits, trousers, overcoats, ties, etc. In the knitwear department one can buy sweaters, cardigans, short-sleeved and long-sleeved pullovers, woolen jackets. In the perfumery they sell face cream and powder, lipstick, lotions and shampoos.

In a food supermarket we can also buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, macaroni, flour, cereals, tea. At the butcher’s there is a wide choice of meat and poultry.. At the bakery you buy brown and white bread, rolls, biscuits. Another shop we frequently go to is the greengrocery which is stocked by cabbage, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, beetroots, green peas and what not. Everything is sold here ready-weighed and packed. If you call round at a dairy you can buy milk, cream, cheese, butter and many other products.

The methods of shopping may vary. It may be a self-service shop where the customer goes from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket what he wishes to buy. Then he takes the basket to the check-out counter, where the prices of the purchases are added up. If its not a self-service shop, and most small shops are not, the shop-assistant helps the customer in finding what he wants. You pay money to the cashier and he gives you back the change.

But there is a very good service called Postal Market. It really helps you to save you time and get goods of high quality. You have just to look through a catalogue, choose the things you like, order them and wait a little to get them.

In a food supermarket we can also buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, macaroni, flour, cereals, tea. At the butcher"s there is a wide choice of meat and poultry. At the bakery you buy brown and white bread, rolls, biscuits.

Another shop we frequently go to is the greengrocery which is stocked by cabbage, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, beetroots, green peas and what not. Everything is sold here ready-weighed and packed. If you call round at a dairy you can buy milk, cream, cheese, butter and many other products.

The methods of shopping may vary. It may be a selfservice shop where the customer goes from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket what he wishes to buy. Then he takes the basket to the check-out counter, where the prices of the purchases are added up. If it is not a self-service shop, and most small shops are not, the shop-assistant helps the customer in finding what he wants. You pay money to the cashier and he gives you back the change.

Мне нравится делать покупки в больших универсальных магазинах и супермаркетах. Под одной крышей продаются разные товары, что очень удобно. Универсальный магазин, например, соответствует своему названию. Он состоит из многих отделов: готовая одежда, ткани, обувь, спорттовары, игрушки, посуда, электротовары, косметика, белье, гардины, фотоаппараты, магнитофоны и т. д. Вы можете купить здесь что хотите.

В больших универмагах есть эскалаторы, которые доставляют посетителей на разные этажи. Вещи, которые продаются, лежат на прилавках, чтобы их можно было рассмотреть. В отделе женской одежды вы можете увидеть платья, костюмы, блузы, юбки, пальто, красивое белье и многие другие вещи. В отделе мужской одежды можно выбрать костюмы, брюки, пальто, галстуки и т. д.

В отделе трикотажа можно купить свитера, кардиганы, пуловеры с короткими и длинными рукавами, шерстяные жакеты. В отделе косметики продаются крем для лица, пудра, помада, лосьоны и шампуни.

В продуктовом супермаркете мы можем купить одно временно: сосиски, рыбу, сахар, макароны, муку, крупы, чай. В мясном магазине есть большой выбор мяса и птицы. В булочной мы покупаем черный и белый хлеб, булочки, печенье.

Мы часто ходим еще в один магазин - овощной. Здесь есть капуста, картофель, лук, огурцы, морковь, свекла, зеленый горошек и многое другое. Все продается в расфасованном и упакованном виде. Если вы зайдете в молочный магазин, там вы можете купить молоко, сыр, сливки, масло и другие продукты.

Методы торговли могут различаться. Существуют магазины самообслуживания, где покупатель ходит от прилавка к прилавку, выбирает и кладет в корзину то, что он хочет купить. Затем он несет корзину к контрольному прилавку, где стоимость покупок суммируется. Если же в магазине нет самообслуживания, как в большинстве маленьких магазинов, то продавец помогает покупателю подобрать то, что ов хочет. Вы платите деньги кассиру, а он дает вам сдачу
